Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit position requiring at least 2 years of cardiac PCU experience and NC/compact RN licensure.

Details

• 30-private bed Cardiac Medical Progressive Care Unit providing 24/7 care
• Rooms are remotely monitored by the Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
• Focus on cardiac patients including CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement
• Secondary focus on respiratory conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP management
• Patient ratios of 1:4 with drips/BiPAP, otherwise mostly 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation with holidays as needed
• Nurse Assistants available 24/7 and RN secretary support from 7 AM-11 PM
• EPIC EMR required
• May float to any Cone Health campus as needed

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, preferably in cardiac PCU setting
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (two attempts allowed)
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Skilled in management of peripheral and PICC lines
• Skilled in management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration preferred)
• Skilled in procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Skilled in chest tube management (Emerson, Pleur-evac)
• Skilled in external CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy management
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• Experience with Rapid Response Teams preferred
• Valid driver's license required for address verification

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to cardiac and respiratory progressive care patients
• Staff are scheduled for a 6-week period via a self-assisted scheduling system based on departmental need and patient acuity
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates within this radius accepted
• RTO requests must be submitted with the application; no post-submission RTO accepted
• Background checks must show no open cases
