Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac PCU position requiring 2 years of strong cardiac or PCU experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • ,ac and Vascular Care and Cardiac Telemetry patients including MI, post-operative open-heart surgery (TAVR, fem-pop bypass), pre- and post-op open-heart, cardiac arrhythmias, Tikosyn therapy, pacemakers, and ICDs
  • Also cares for post-cardiac catheterization patients (femoral and radial with TR bands), carotid and thoracotomy patients transitioning from ICU, and amputations related to vascular complications
  • Unit functions as an acuity adaptable unit handling medical overflow
  • Patient ratio is 1:3-4
  • 12-hour night shift schedule with every other weekend rotation
  • Shift times are 0700-1930 or 1900-0730
  • No on-call requirement, but extra shifts may be picked up if desired
  • Travelers are first to float to MedSurg units and ICU (for overflow coverage)
  • EMR: EPIC
  • IV Pumps: Alaris
  • Medication dispensing via Pyxis
  • Uses Philips portable and bedside monitors

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of strong cardiac or PCU experience required
  • Ability to identify and interpret cardiac rhythms
  • Experience managing epidurals and chest tubes
  • Cardiac drip management experience including nitro, heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine (fixed rate), and dobutamine (fixed rate)

Additional Information

  • Level 3 Trauma Center within a 388-bed hospital
  • 34-bed Cardiovascular PCU unit
  • Support staff includes 2-4 CNAs per shift, a free-floating charge nurse, a flex nurse (0700-1930) to assist with admissions/discharges and patient transport, 24/7 hospitalist and RT coverage, 24/7 on-call cardiologist, and 2 tele techs per shift
  • Orientation includes facility-wide NEO plus 2 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holidays
  • RTO requests must be approved through the unit manager
  • Schedules are set in 6-week cycles and provided 2 weeks prior to the start of each cycle; block scheduling can be accommodated based on preference
  • Scrubs must be any solid, professional color with no graphics, logos, or designs
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
