Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer to perform comprehensive echocardiographic studies on adult and pediatric patients, requiring RDCS or RCS certification.

Details

• Echocardiography department serving adult and pediatric cardiac patients, neonate through geriatric
• M-F varying shifts between 7:00am-5pm, no weekends or standard call, though on-call coverage may be required as needed
• 13-week assignment, 40 hours per week
• Performs full echo exams and reporting within 75 minutes
• Utilizes Echo Information Management System and Epic for charting
• Duties include stress lab and stress echo lab procedures, outreach services, and holiday coverage as needed
• On-call availability with 30-minute response time may be required

Requirements

• Associate's degree or graduate of a CAAHEP accredited sonography program required
• RDCS (ARDMS) or RCS (CCI) certification required
• BLS certification required (AHA or American Red Cross)
• License required if applicable
• 3 years of cardiac sonography experience required
• Experience with adult and pediatric cardiac sonography, including transesophageal and stress echo preferred
• Knowledge of cardiac pathophysiology, diagnostic procedures, and patient care procedures required
• Experience with bubble studies, Definity, and Optison studies
• Proficiency in scanning cardiac abnormalities, cardiac hemodynamics, PISA quantification, and strain imaging
• Experience with pediatric echocardiography for patients 5 years and older
• Must be able to tolerate frequent walking, standing, pushing, and pulling
• Must be able to reach above shoulder level and endure occasional twisting and turning
• Must communicate effectively verbally and in writing with good hearing and visual acuity

Additional Information

• Independently perform comprehensive echocardiograms using critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Collaborate with Lead and Advanced Cardiac Sonographers, Echocardiographers, and Physicians on interpretation of findings
• Assist in orientation, training, and education of trainees, students, and visitors in Cardiovascular Services
• Demonstrate flexibility in learning new equipment, imaging specialties, and echocardiography procedures
• Follow sterile procedures and isolation precautions to avoid exposure to radiation, infectious hazards, and sharp instruments
• On-site position with patient access required
