Description

American Traveler is seeking a Cardiac Stepdown RN with 2+ years of experience and SC or compact RN license for a 13-week acute care hospital assignment.

Details

• Stepdown Cardiac unit within an acute care hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Day shift, 3x12 hours (7a-7p) with rotating weekends
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• No on-call requirements
• May float between Downtown and Northeast campuses based on census or staffing needs, adjusting to the ratio of the floated unit
• Uses Epic EMR
• Cares for pre/post cardiac cath patients requiring telemetry monitoring

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required; pending licenses considered but must be active prior to start
• AHA-issued BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• IV start and telemetry skills required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, and maintaining IVs
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and heparin protocols
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and respiratory care including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• Social Security Number required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct care for cardiac stepdown/PCU patients including neurological and CVA cases
• Complete pre-start training modules averaging 4 hours prior to starting the assignment
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis within a 60-mile radius
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted for facility approval prior to offer confirmation
• First-time travelers will be considered, though candidates with prior travel experience are preferred
• During hurricane season (June through November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response duties
