Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Cardiac Stepdown unit requiring at least 1 year of recent cardiac stepdown experience and a Missouri or compact RN license.

Details

• Works in a 32-bed Cardiac Medical Intermediate (Stepdown) unit within a hospital setting
• Cares for post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, respiratory failure, and chest pain patients
• Maintains patient ratios of 1:3-1:4
• Utilizes chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAP equipment
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Requires every other weekend coverage
• Floating may be required to a similar or lower acuity unit as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available for the full orientation week

Requirements

• Active RN license (Missouri or compact) required
• BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Cardiac Stepdown experience required
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for adult patients
• Coordinate care with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
• Maintain professional accountability and evaluate care provided by other direct caregivers
• Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and turning patients with assistance, plus pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs
• High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1, with no declinations accepted
• Scrub color required is all black with Mercy logo on top; hoodies, non-logo jackets, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, earbuds, and fake nails are not permitted
• RTO of 5 days or less allowed, must be made up during the assignment
• Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local and subject to a reduced bill rate
• Local candidates completing 3 consecutive 13-week contracts must separate from the facility for at least 1 year or transition to a facility outside the 50-mile radius
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
