Travel RN – Cardiac Med Intermediate (Stepdown) – Nights

Contract | Night Shift (19:00–07:30) | 36 or 48 hours per week | 16-Week Assignment | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for all age groups
  • Provide direct patient care for post-op cardiac patients including post-CABG/valve, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, and chest pain presentations
  • Monitor and manage equipment including chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
  • Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
  • Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers and maintain professional accountability
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality in accordance with applicable nursing practice standards and guidelines

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license; must be eligible for or currently hold licensure in the state of Missouri
  • Minimum 1 year of inpatient Cardiac Stepdown experience
  • BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Flu vaccination (or approved exemption) required November 1 – April 1; declinations are not accepted
  • Proficiency with EPIC EMR
  • Ability to float to a similar or lower acuity unit as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Experience with chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAP management
  • Strong team-oriented approach with the ability to promote a positive unit culture
