Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown position requiring prior travel experience and a KY or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Cardiac Stepdown/Advanced Heart Care unit of a hospital setting
• Blended acuity patient population with ratios of approximately 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours from 1900-0700
• Every other weekend required, negotiable
• No on-call responsibilities
• Meditech charting experience preferred

Requirements

• Active KY or Compact RN license required in hand
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (obtained in hand)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a certified stroke center or stroke unit required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Competency in stroke signs/symptoms assessment (e.g., BE-FAST) required
• Bedside dysphagia screening competency required
• Familiarity with current stroke guidelines and performance measures for acute ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
• Skills required include IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, blood product administration, and cardiac drip management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team utilization required

Additional Information

• Provide advanced cardiac care nursing to a stepdown/telemetry patient population
• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and post-cardiac cath/surgery care
• Orientation is held on Mondays
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with the application and must appear on the confirmation document
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Must reside within a 30-minute response time of the facility in case of emergency
• 65-mile radius restriction applies; local travelers are not accepted
• Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
• First-time travelers will not be considered; prior travel experience is required
