Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Cardiac Stepdown unit requiring 1 year of recent cardiac stepdown experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 32-bed Cardiac Medical Intermediate (Stepdown) unit in a hospital setting
• Care for post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomy, respiratory failure, and chest pain patients
• Patient ratios of 1:3 to 1:4
• Utilizes chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAP equipment
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required, per facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit
• Night shift orientation occurs on day shift, requiring full availability during orientation week

Requirements

• Active RN license (Missouri or compact) required
• BLS and ACLS certification from AHA required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Cardiac Stepdown experience required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for adult patients
• Coordinate patient care activities with other departments to optimize care and comfort
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information
• Physical demands include standing and walking for most of the shift, bending, stooping, lifting and turning patients with assistance, and pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs
• High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• Scrub color is all black with facility logo on top; hoodies, non-logo jackets, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, earbuds, and fake nails are not permitted
• Flu vaccination (or approved exemption) required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
• RTO of 5 days or less allowed, must be made up during the assignment
• Only 1 holiday RTO request allowed per assignment
• Local candidates accepted, though bill rate will be reduced for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
