• Patient Ratios: Approximately 4:1 on days and 5:1 on nights
• Patient Population: Adult cardiac and medically complex patients
• Charting: Paragon electronic medical record
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Local Candidates: Not accepted; applicants must reside outside the designated local radius

Cardiac Stepdown Travel RN Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or a valid compact-state license
• At least 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown, PCU, Progressive Care, DOU, IMC, or telemetry nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Demonstrated experience caring for cardiac stepdown patients with 4–5 patient assignments
• Proficiency with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, cardiac drips, heparin protocols, and post-cardiac procedure care
• Ability to float within clinical scope to support patient care needs
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult cardiac stepdown and progressive care patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition or dysrhythmias
• Manage cardiac drips, including titratable infusions when indicated, according to approved protocols
• Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization, cardiac angiography, myocardial infarction, and cardiac surgery
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, and wound care needs
• Administer blood products, oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway support, and other prescribed treatments
• Interpret arterial blood gases and respond promptly to changes in respiratory or hemodynamic status
• Participate in rapid response and code team activities as needed
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, and other members of the care team
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record
