American Consultants is seeking a travel nurse RN CVICU for a travel nursing job in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit – Tuscaloosa, AL

Start Date: August 17, 2026

Location: Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts. Every other weekend and holidays as required. 36 or 48 hours per week available. 13-week assignment with biweekly orientation.

Highlights:

  • Work in a specialized 4-bed Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit focused on adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and other surgical conditions requiring critical care
  • Provide complex invasive hemodynamic monitoring and post-operative recovery care in a patient-centered environment
  • Collaborate with a dedicated cardiovascular educator and multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in critical care
  • Support also includes an 8-bed stepdown unit for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery recovery patients
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week with overtime available after 48 hours
  • Flexibility to float to other units and facilities as needed

Requirements:

  • Active Alabama or Compact state RN license (temporary licenses not accepted)
  • Minimum of 2 years recent CVICU experience required
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree required
  • AHA BLS and NIHSS certification required
  • AHA PALS preferred if working in pediatric unit
  • Must pass Dysrhythmia Basic exam during onboarding (2 attempts allowed)
  • Willingness to float to other units and facilities
  • Ability to demonstrate high levels of professional competency in critical care nursing
