Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring prior travel experience and expertise managing continuous IV cardiac drips.

Details

  • Work in the Cardiac Telemetry unit of a hospital environment, also covering overflow IMCU patients
  • 32-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Adult to geriatric patient population including cardiac, CHF, chest pain, renal, and pulmonary cases (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT)
  • Manage stable arrhythmias including A-Fib, SVT, and bradycardia
  • Occasional surgical overflow patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains)
  • Occasional vascular, post cardiac cath, TR band, DKA, ortho, and CVA overflow patients
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend typically required, with travelers filling gaps after perm staff scheduling
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • On-call is rare with a 2-hour response time; travelers do not manage Precedex drips
  • Uses Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
  • Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of submission
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Experience managing continuous IV medications including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
  • Experience with TR bands and basic arrhythmia management required
  • Broad Med Surg skill set required
  • Preferred charting system experience with Epic
  • Preferred prior charge experience
  • No previous permanent, per diem, or FCSS employment with Piedmont Health within the last year

Additional Information

  • Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care with arrhythmia management, cardioversion, and cardiac monitoring
  • Manage and interpret dysrhythmias and utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
  • Care for pre/post cardiac catheterization patients and manage TR bands
  • Manage feeding tubes, central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral IV access
  • Support respiratory patients including BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula management
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, which must be finalized at time of submission
  • Holiday coverage required per Piedmont's holiday policy: work 1-2 major holidays with no holiday RTO, or work 2 of 3 major holidays if three fall within the assignment
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Returning travelers must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before reapplying
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
