Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

  • Cardiac Telemetry unit with 32 beds and a 1:5-6 patient ratio, occasionally overflowing to IMCU
  • Adult to geriatric patient population including cardiac, CHF, chest pain, renal, and pulmonary conditions (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT)
  • Manages stable arrhythmias (A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia), post cardiac cath and TR Band patients, surgical overflow (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains), and occasional vascular, ortho, or CVA overflow patients requiring transfer
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
  • Typically works every other weekend, with travelers filling gaps after permanent staff scheduling
  • Floating required within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Rare on-call requirements with a 2-hour response time
  • Uses Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of submission
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a cardiac telemetry or similar unit
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Experience managing continuous IV cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin
  • Experience with diuretics (Bumex, Lasix) and anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin)
  • Experience managing insulin drips
  • Basic arrhythmia knowledge and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
  • Epic charting system experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including arrhythmia management, cardioversion, and rapid response/code team coordination
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, which must be finalized at time of submission with no requests after offer or during orientation week
  • Holiday coverage required for assigned major holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day); if 3 holidays fall within the assignment, one RTO request may be considered
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
  • Permanent, PRN, or internal staff must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who previously cancelled or were deemed unable to return must complete one assignment at another facility before reapplying
