Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night shift hospital position requiring 2 years of cardiac experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis
• Supports special procedures including CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Watchman (LAAO), VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, and post-cath/EP procedures
• Uses specialized equipment including arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, fem-stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
• Documentation and communication via EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (1845-0715), 36 hours per week
• Weekend coverage required, 4 shifts per 4-week period
• Floating required as needed
• No on-call requirement

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending acceptable at submission
• BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac med/surg, telemetry, or step-down experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, and cardiac drip management required
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Wound care/wound vac and radial artery line skills preferred
• First-time travelers accepted only if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia management for a complex cardiac and thoracic surgical population
• Assigned staff may be required to participate in Storm Team/Hurricane Team coverage and report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
• 24-hour unit orientation provided
• Scrub color requirement: navy blue pants with white top
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved (not on holidays); no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment; additional RTO after signing not accepted
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
• Former Novant/New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying and disclose prior employment details
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower local rate
• Contracts longer than 13 weeks will be considered, up to 2/27/2027
