Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a busy night shift unit requiring 2+ years of cardiac tele experience and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certification.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit serving as the facility's primary cardiac and stroke unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
• 20-week assignment or longer through end date
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6, with fluctuation based on unit needs
• High patient turnover, averaging 78-90 patients per week
• Care for pre/post pacemaker, ICD, and cardiac catheterization patients, TR bands, and post uncomplicated interventional peripheral vascular/cardiac procedures
• Manage stable patients on non-rebreather masks, high flow O2, and chronic BiPAP use
• Treat unstable angina, low risk chest pain, CHF, dysrhythmias, and new CVA/TIA patients
• Titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
• Unit includes a COVID section utilizing opti-flow and acute BiPAP during surges
• Team lead support available to assist with admissions and discharges
• Uses Pyxis, EPIC (Dimensions), and SBAR communication
• Self-scheduling with leadership oversight, no block scheduling
• Every other weekend required, including 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period
• Float requirement within/near facility
• On-call requirement, frequency dependent on patient census
• 36-hour orientation with mandatory attendance week one

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license/certs OK for consideration
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Telemetry experience required, PCU experience not required
• Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, central and peripheral line care
• Experience with cardiac drips (Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone) and titration required
• Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac angiogram/MI, pre/post cardiac cath and surgery required
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code teams
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required, pending references OK at submission

Additional Information

• Provide bedside cardiac and stroke care, including monitoring, drip management, and emergency response
• Assist with fast-paced patient turnover and multiple admissions/discharges per shift
• Team lead support provided to assist with unit workflow
• Navy blue or white scrubs, or a mix of both, permitted with facility t-shirts allowed all week
• Jackets must match uniform color and material (no fleece); no crocs with holes
• Modules must be completed pre-start and annually, approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles
• Modules conducted online via Chrome or Edge, along with Zoom, webinar, or in-person sessions
• First-time travelers considered if they meet the 2-year Cardiac Tele experience requirement
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
• Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
• RTO of 7 days or less can be auto-approved if it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO permitted during first week
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• No additional RTO requests permitted after signing
