Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Med Intermediate (Telemetry) position on nights at a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 1 year of cardiac telemetry experience.
Details
- Cardiac Med Intermediate unit (4A) in a large hospital setting designated as a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center
- 32-bed unit serving a cardiac and med/surg patient population
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Patient ratios vary: 1:5–1:6 on days, 1:6–1:8 on nights (estimates)
- Equipment includes Alaris pumps, telemetry monitoring, and lift equipment
- EMR: Epic
- Floating on a rotational basis is required
- No on-call requirements
- Weekends required as determined by facility
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license in Missouri or a compact license that meets Missouri licensure eligibility requirements
- Minimum 1 year of recent cardiac telemetry experience in an inpatient setting
- BLS certification from AHA required
- 4 trauma credits required — must be completed within the first two weeks of the assignment if not already obtained
- NIHSS certification required prior to start (candidates may be considered without it if obtained before start date)
- ACLS from AHA preferred
- Experience and competence in drug titration required
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
- No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documented renewal is scheduled
- Must be able to stand and walk for most of the shift, bend, stoop, lift, and turn patients with assistance, and push/pull/grip up to 50 lbs
Additional Information
- Performs direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for cardiac and med/surg patients across all age groups
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary and other departments to optimize patient outcomes
- Night shift orientation takes place on day shift; candidate must be available the entire orientation week
- Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
- Black scrubs required; torn clothing, open-toed shoes, and non-scrub attire are not permitted
- RTO of up to 5 days is permitted but must be made up during the assignment; no RTO will be approved during the first week
- Only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will receive a reduced bill rate compared to the standard travel rate
- Candidates within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a 1-year separation or relocation outside the 50-mile radius is required
