Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiothoracic ICU RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring 2+ years of CVICU/CTICU experience and an active VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Cardiothoracic ICU setting caring for both ICU and step-down patients under a universal bed model
• Typical patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required, including two of the three winter holidays
• 48-hour contracts available with overtime billed after 48 hours
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Requires proficiency with Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience in CVICU/CTICU required
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Strong neuro experience required, including post brain surgery and EVD/ventriculostomy management
• Skilled in arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• Experience with blood product administration and IV insertion/maintenance
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation administration
• Experience with FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Experience managing multi-system organ failure and CVA/acute stroke patients
• Experience with CABG, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, and Impella
• Experience with post cardiac surgery care (direct and non-direct from OR) and pre/post cardiac cath intervention
• Experience with Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and CVVHD/CRRT
• Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with ETT/NT suctioning and infection prevention/isolation precautions
• Experience with surgical wounds, drains, and wound vac management
• No history of license or background hits permitted

Additional Information

• Care for a mix of ICU and step-down cardiothoracic patients using a universal bed model
• Located in Chesapeake, VA, near Virginia Beach and Norfolk with access to outdoor recreation
• EKG competency testing required with a passing score of 80% or higher, no remediation offered
• Approximately 3 hours of pre-start modules required
• Fit testing required; facility cannot accommodate PAPR devices
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• Travel experience preferred but not required; first-time travelers may be considered
