Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night-shift acute care position requiring EKG interpretation and drip titration skills.

Details

• Acute care Cardio Thoracic Unit (Telemetry) with 70 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6 on nights
• PCT support available at ratios of approximately 1:10-12 on nights
• Common diagnoses include MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries, chest tube management, and esophagectomy recovery
• Requires titration of drips including Cardizem and heparin
• Tele/monitor techs available; RNs must be able to read and interpret Philips telemetry strips
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen for home regimen or special circumstances
• 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor coverage on the unit
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730
• Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday nights)
• Floating required to other general medical units
• No call or standby requirements

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS recommended
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and medication titration required
• Basic nursing skills and experience with drip titration required
• Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels as part of facility's drug-free campus policy

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac and thoracic patients, including monitoring, medication titration, and post-surgical care
• Work alongside dedicated charge nurses and house supervisors for support
• Unit-specific orientation typically consists of one shift or partial shift
• Any scrub color accepted except children's or cartoon prints, as unit serves adult patients only
• Holiday rotation required, including Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's (with eve shifts for nights)
