Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring cardiac post-procedural experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 22-bed cardiothoracic surgery progressive care unit with average census of 21
• Patient population includes CABG, valve replacement/repair, LVAD, heart transplant, AAA repair, carotids, and thoracic outlet cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:3-5 based on acuity, CNA ratio of 1:11
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• EOW weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required to 7 Reynolds, 7 Ardmore, Day Hospital, or 5CC West
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Zoll, bladder scanner, and USGIV (training available)
• Telemetry monitoring support provided, with RN responsible for interpreting cardiac strips

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or compact) required
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required for Resource Team
• PCCN certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Cardiology experience required, including cardiac post-procedural care for CABG, valve replacement/repair, LVAD, heart transplant, AAA repair, carotids, and thoracic outlet cases
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
• Experience with titrating and non-titrating cardiac drips required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Unit supported by CNA, unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, rapid response team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• No dedicated IV/VAT team
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental training
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Team-oriented unit culture with strong staff engagement and passion for patient care
• Free on-site parking available
• 75% of holidays required to be worked
• First-time travelers accepted if they have CT surgery experience
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before returning as a traveler
