Job Summary:
The ICU Cardiovascular (ICU OH) registered nurse position is located in an acute care facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized critical care within a 30-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) that treats various cardiac, thoracic, and vascular patient populations. The position requires delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment with the support of a dedicated multidisciplinary team.
Job Details:
- Location: Milwaukee, WI
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with a 6-week schedule cycle.
- Required Qualifications: 3 years of ICU experience with at least 1 year in CVICU, valid BLS and ACLS certifications, Wisconsin state license, CCRN certification preferred.
- Responsibilities: Competent in invasive line monitoring (Swan Ganz, arterial lines), pacemaker management (epicardial, transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medication administration (inotropes, vasopressors, sedatives/paralytics), ventilator and tracheostomy management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and EPIC electronic medical record experience.
- Support within the Department: Charge nurse availability, 24/7 HUC support, dedicated CVICU intensivist, trauma surgeon, hospitalist, general intensivist, ICU designated respiratory therapist, telemetry monitoring, and peripheral blood draw phlebotomy.
- Technology/Equipment: EPIC EMR, Alaris infusion pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE monitors, and specific ICU equipment.
- Float: Float rotation may be required in ED Holding, other ICU s (such as MRICU, SICU, CICU, Neuro ICU), MSU, or with Sitter support.
- Orientation: One day of unit and facility orientation, followed by 2-4 hours of NEO with a supervisor or nurse educator, then placement on the unit with a preceptor.
- Holiday and RTO: 1-2 holidays per contract, RTO approval up to 7 days.
- Uniform: Any solid color, professional scrub attire without graphics or logos.
- Parking: Free parking with shuttle service for day shifts; attached parking structure for night shifts.
