Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit night shift position requiring stepdown and telemetry experience.

Details

  • Work in the 4Heart Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) of a hospital environment
  • 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit with a total staff of approximately 100
  • Patient population includes CV and vascular surgery cases such as CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
  • Unit also receives overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses such as heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
  • Patient ratio of 1:5 RN to patient and 1:13 PCT to patient
  • Uses Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts
  • EMR system used is Cerner
  • Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • 13-week assignment length
  • No on-call requirements
  • Minimum weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday, day/night) per 6-week schedule period
  • Floating required to any stepdown unit (1:5 ratio), medical-surgical unit (1:6-7 ratio), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6 ratio)

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Stepdown experience required
  • Telemetry experience required
  • Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) within the past year preferred
  • CVICU experience preferred
  • No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Perform epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander management, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
  • Team-oriented, fast-paced environment requiring flexibility
  • Must be flexible to work holidays
  • Dress code requires all navy scrubs, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white attire
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
  • First-time travelers may be considered
