Job Title: Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II Profession: Clinical Technicians Specialty: Pediatric Echo Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Three to five years of experience as a certified or registered cardiovascular or radiologic technology professional in the specialty required. License: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. Certifications: One of the following Cardiovascular or Radiologic certification through ARRT, CCI, or ARDMS: - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) - Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) - Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Radiography (R) - Computed Tomography (CT) - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) - Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CI) - Sonography (S) - Vascular Sonography (VS) Must-Have: - Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions. - Must be able to consistently and dependably report to work as scheduled. - Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes. - Ability to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. - Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information. - Ability to exercise sound judgment. - Must be able to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations. - Demonstrate attention to detail. - Core to intermediate-level knowledge and understanding of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology. - Core to intermediate-level knowledge and understanding of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technologies and terminology. - Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments independently with limited direction. Description: Under general to limited supervision and direction, this intermediate-level position accepts independent clinical and non-clinical duty assignments. The role delivers specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services to pediatric patient populations. The primary purpose is to aid medical staff in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of simple to complex conditions, defects, and diseases. The responsibilities include maintaining competencies required to perform essential duties and responsibilities. Utilizing intermediate-level professional knowledge, abilities, skills, and available resources, safe, high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient-centric care is provided. Care is delivered under routine or emergent conditions in various care settings, including inpatient facilities, outpatient physician practices, and diagnostic/urgent care centers. Patients are prepared for procedures, and clinical history is correlated with the procedures ordered by physicians. Effective communication and collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care team members are essential to achieving desired clinical outcomes and operational goals. A variety of highly specialized imaging equipment and techniques are utilized to perform diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures. Post-procedure reviews are conducted to confirm that all required study elements are completed and documented. Images and data are transferred to archival systems, and technical data/findings are prepared for reporting by physicians. Quality control checks and maintenance are performed per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines. Participation in continuing education, professional development, and research activities is required to maintain competencies and promote improvements in care and treatment. Instruction and mentorship of less experienced team members are provided, along with preparation and presentation of in-service training pertinent to the assigned service area. Other duties as assigned may be performed.
