Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN Case Manager for an acute care hospital setting, requiring a VA or compact RN license and at least 5 years of recent acute care Case Management experience.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting in the Case Management department
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Weekday schedule with some weekend requirements
  • Patient census of approximately 15-25 patients, with a ratio of 1:22
  • No overtime without supervisor approval
  • Level I, II, or III trauma hospital experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 5 years of recent acute care Case Management experience in a hospital setting
  • At least 3 years of recent experience as a unit-based inpatient case manager
  • Less than a 6-month gap since last acute care Case Management role
  • Experience in a Level I, II, or III acute care hospital required
  • Utilization Review (UR) experience required
  • Recent experience in adult acute care hospital setting with discharge planning
  • Rated 4/5 or 5/5 across all Case Management functions, including knowledge of CMS regulations
  • Epic proficiency required
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
  • CCM (Certified Case Manager) certification preferred
  • ACM (Accredited Case Manager) certification preferred
  • Ability to manage a high-volume, fast-paced patient population
  • Previous travel experience strongly preferred

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include care coordination, discharge planning, utilization review, concurrent review, continued stay reviews, and medical necessity determinations
  • Duties include admission criteria review, appeals and denials, audits, needs assessment, DME ordering, and plan of care development
  • Knowledge of CMS, DRG, HIPAA, OSHA, and Joint Commission/Core Measure/National Safety Goals regulations required
  • Must utilize Milliman guidelines for medical necessity determinations
  • Longer assignments through January 9, 2027, are available but not required
  • Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays
  • First-time travelers will only be considered if they have extensive acute care Case Management experience
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered
  • Requested time off must be submitted and will be reviewed and approved on a per-case basis
  • Candidates with any license or background history issues will not be considered
  • Fit testing accommodations for PAPR are not available
