Description
American Traveler is hiring a Case Management RN for a 13-week acute hospital assignment requiring an active AK RN license, Epic experience, and at least 1-2 years of case management experience.
Details
- Acute hospital setting within the Case Management/Utilization Review department
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 or 5x8 hours, with shift start times varying between 0700-0830
- Every other weekend required, or 4 weekend days within a 4-week schedule
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including to sister facilities
- Uses Epic for charting
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required in hand
- BLS certification required, ACM-RN certification preferred
- Minimum of 1-2 years of case management experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Acute care experience required
- Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred
- Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Experience with admission criteria, care coordination, continued stay reviews, discharge planning, and utilization review processes
- Familiarity with CMS, HIPAA, and ICD-10 coding guidelines preferred
- Experience with InterQual and Milliman guidelines preferred
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include determining medical necessity per evidence-based guidelines, discharge planning, needs assessment, DME ordering, and care coordination
- May be involved in pre-certification review, prior authorizations, appeals and denials, and worker's compensation case management
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma hospital recognized as a top hospital in Alaska
- Scrubs provided by facility

- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
- Only one time-off request of 5 days or less permitted per 13-week assignment; no holiday time off allowed
- Must be willing to commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
