Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN Case Manager for an acute care hospital setting, requiring 2 years of acute hospital case management experience and a CA RN license in hand.

Details

• Acute Hospital Case Management/Utilization Review department
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating between like units required based on facility need
• Uses Epic charting system
• Accepts local candidates within a 50 mile radius at a lower bill rate

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required, compact license must be in hand at submission
• Current certifications as required for case management practice
• Minimum 2 years of acute hospital case management experience performing care coordination and discharge planning
• Prior travel nursing experience required, though first-time travelers may be considered with clinical manager approval
• Required charting experience with Epic
• Experience with admission criteria, appeals and denials, benefits eligibility, care coordination, discharge planning, needs assessment/DME ordering, and prior authorizations
• Knowledge of CMS, DRG, HIPAA guidelines, and Joint Commission/Core Measure/National Safety Goals preferred
• Worker's compensation case management experience preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

• Perform care coordination, discharge planning, needs assessments, and prior authorizations for acute care patients
• Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
• Former Providence facility staff may return as travelers after a 3 month waiting period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history at Providence facilities as permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem staff
• All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application for consideration
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• First-time travelers may be considered pending clinical manager screening approval
• Located in Eureka, California, near multiple state and national parks with access to coastal and redwood forest recreation
