Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cath Lab RN for a high-acuity, teaching hospital cath lab requiring advanced interventional skills and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Works in a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 6 procedure rooms and a daily census of 15-20 adult patients
• Cath lab performs diagnostic and interventional procedures including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip
• Uses specialized equipment including IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS
• Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and ASD/PFO closures
• Advanced procedures performed include left atrial appendage closures, Cardiomems, thrombectomy, mitral clips, and renal denervation
• Epic charting required
• Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts (7:30a-6p) with on-call requirements
• Must take 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts every 6-week period, including one full weekend call block (Fri-Sun) and one Saturday elective case shift
• Must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when on call
• 13-week assignment length, up to 26 weeks available by request

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (in hand or pending, with emergency authorization available while permanent license processes)
• BLS and ACLS certification required; CCI RCIS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, 3+ years preferred
• 1:1 patient ratio experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in cardiac cath lab procedures including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temp pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip
• Scrub experience required
• Proficient in sterile technique, EKG lead placement, dysrhythmia recognition/interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid response protocols
• Experience in diagnostic/interventional cath lab settings using fluoroscopy required
• Knowledgeable in isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Level I/II trauma experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required

Additional Information

• Position is part of a nationally recognized cardiac cath lab program with ACC accreditation for PCI procedures
• Supports a multidisciplinary team with adjacent cardiac surgery and hybrid ORs
• Must be available to work or take call for one holiday per 13-week contract in rotation with staff
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2-week period
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• Local candidates within 100 miles (measured from driver's license address) are not accepted, with limited exceptions for certain inpatient RN and RRT roles at reduced eligibility
• Previous employees must have a minimum one-year break before returning as a traveler
• Travelers who have completed 365 days on assignment are not eligible to return, subject to leadership review for exceptions
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront with the application
