Key Responsibilities of the Medical Laboratory Scientist

Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures including specimen processing and testing
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instrumentation
Cross-train and assist in other laboratory sections as needed
Ensure adherence to the laboratory's quality control program
Utilize the Laboratory Information System for result calculation and verification
Document and communicate critical laboratory values efficiently
Engage in developing and implementing new testing procedures and protocols

Requirements of the Medical Laboratory Scientist

Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant science or medical technology field
Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS
Recent clinical laboratory experience that includes significant exposure to Blood Banking, among other lab sections
