Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Cardiac Cath Lab Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: Cath Lab Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift, Monday through Thursday, case dependent Hours per Shift: Typically 0600 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Must meet state licensure requirements appropriate to certification and job function Certifications: Must hold one of the following certifications: - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) - Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) - Current ACLS and BLS certifications required Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technologist Program or Radiologic Technologist Program Description: The Cardiac Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist performs professional duties involved in a variety of technical procedures. Responsible for all imaging aspects in the Cardiac Cath Lab room. Ability to scrub and pan cardiovascular arterial venous studies with the cardiologist, radiologist, or vascular surgeon. Conducts vascular angiography, angioplasty, arteriography, electrophysiology, hemodynamic measurements, and PPM/AICD insertion and replacements. Manages ordering of inventory and supply chain under facility PAR level. Monitors per case expense and offers cost-saving ideas. Maintains departmental compliance with rules and regulations set forth by governing accreditation agencies. Maintains and troubleshoots fluoroscopy and ultrasound equipment. Recognizes overexposure of radiation and verbalizes basic principles of radiation physics, biology, and safety. Follows AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) as a team member. Accepts reassignments and additional duties in a flexible and positive manner. Maintains an environment of cohesiveness and teamwork. May be asked for radiation safety input to maintain accreditation. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Provides excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating core and leader behaviors. The essential functions are intended to describe the general content and requirements of this position. Specific tasks or responsibilities will be documented as outlined by the immediate manager. Independently performs prescribed radiographic procedures in accordance with facility policies and protocols. Internal customers include all levels of medical imaging and nursing management, medical staff, and members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External customers include regulatory and health agencies, patients, and family members. Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently. Possesses physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond to unexpected patient care needs. Requires adequate hearing and visual acuity, including color vision. Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to handle objects. Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating and transferring. May be required to lift up to 75 pounds. Must use standard precautions due to exposure to blood and bodily fluids. Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on the telephone. May require periodic use of a personal computer.
