Description:
The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.
This position involves producing diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients and providing immobilization devices.
The technologist will select proper technical factors based on individual patient needs and operate equipment as required for specific procedures.
Clienttion beam restriction will be performed using cone and collimating devices to avoid exposure to unaffected parts of the patient.
Portable x-ray examinations will be conducted in various settings including patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
Operational procedures must be followed to identify patient films with the patient’s name and x-ray number.
The technologist will also mark films correctly regarding the side of the patient taken.
Exposed x-ray films will be developed by using appropriate processing methods.
Patient requisitions must be completed with the technologist's initials, date, number, and size of film.
The x-ray room needs to be maintained in an orderly fashion as directed by departmental leadership.
Preparation of radiopaque contrast media is required, as well as assisting the physician in administering these mixtures to patients.
Administrative duties including scheduling appointments, patient instruction, film filing, and maintenance of records will also be performed.
The technologist should render services and/or assistance to all patients based on individual needs and abilities related to movement and positioning.
Physical requirements include lifting a minimum of 5 lbs, pushing and pulling a minimum of 10 lbs, and standing for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
The technologist should identify the needs of the patient population served and adjust care delivery to meet specific needs, including age, culture, and communication requirements.
Adherence to organizational competencies is essential.
