Job Title: Cath Lab / IR Technologist Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: Radiologic Technologist, Special Procedures Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift with On-Call Rotation Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required Certifications: ARRT(R) required ARRT(VI) or ARRT(CI) required BLS required ACLS required PALS required NIHSS required Must-Have: Experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center Description: We are seeking an experienced Cath Lab / IR Technologist for this opportunity. The candidate must have experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center. This position is for Day Shift with an On-Call Rotation that includes weeknights, weekends, and holidays. The specialties involved in cardiovascular intervention include Interventional Cardiology, Interventional Client, Interventional Radiology, and Electrophysiology. The selected candidate will be trained in all of these specialties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Verify patient identification. Ensure the presence of appropriate signed informed consent for the procedure. Assess allergies and history of contrast reactions prior to any procedure using patient records and questioning the patient. Verify package integrity and expiration dates of sterile supplies. Check the type, concentration, amount, and expiration date of medications. Prepare equipment for sterilization. Monitor and record vital signs and assess distal pulses before and after the procedure. Participate in the pre-procedural time-out activity. Prepare access sites with the required sterile drapes and covers. Familiarize the patient with the equipment to ensure comfort and cooperation. Prepare the patient for examination, including physiological monitoring equipment. In collaboration with the physician, select the appropriate contrast agent. Set up and operate the automatic contrast injector, ensuring its proper function and cleanliness. Prepare or assist in administering injectable medications according to physician orders, including analgesics, anticoagulants, thrombolytics, vasoactives, and emergency medications. Recognize and respond to patient emergencies. Monitor and maintain medical equipment during the procedure. Adjust and calibrate pressure transducers as necessary. Scrub with the physician and use sterile and aseptic techniques to prevent infection. Handle blood and body fluids appropriately. Advocate for radiation safety and protection. Wear a personnel radiation dosimeter. Implement precautions to minimize patient and occupational radiation exposure. Document fluoroscopy times and radiation doses. Evaluate dose reports to ensure values are within established limits. Position the patient and imaging equipment to achieve desired projections. Select appropriate imaging protocols to optimize image quality while minimizing dose. Employ image enhancement techniques to improve quality during procedures. Acquire and process digital images, including road mapping, subtraction, annotation, and magnification. Perform 3D image reconstructions. Assist with ultrasound guidance for vascular access or organ access/biopsy. Monitor and record all procedural data, including injection and physiological data, administered medications, and complications. Assist with procedures involving vascular access and all assigned diagnostic and interventional tasks. Provide post-procedural care, including applying pressure to puncture sites and placing vascular closure devices. Provide practical instruction for students and colleagues.
