Job Title: Cardiovascular Cath Lab Tech Profession: Cardiovascular Technologist Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 1-2 years required, 3 years preferred License: Required Licenses/Certifications Certifications: AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 3 months, RCIS exam or Radiologic Technologist License within 1 year of hire Must-Have: Experience with manifold system, scrub assist, table-side required, excellent written and verbal communication skills Description: The Cardiovascular Technologist will assist physicians with all invasive cardiac and peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This includes temporary and permanent pacemaker placement. The Cardiovascular Technologist will also assist with circulatory support devices as indicated. Responsibilities include preparing and organizing specific equipment and sterile trays for each procedure. The position involves assisting the procedure room team with patient monitoring preparation. Calibrating and testing transducers for accurate pressure readings is a key responsibility. The technologist assists physicians throughout diagnostic and interventional procedures. Loading and operating power injectors and associated sterile support equipment is required. Maneuvering the table controls for physicians as requested is part of the role. The technologist calibrates hemodynamic monitoring equipment and obtains, calculates, and analyzes hemodynamic data during procedures. Calculating and recording cardiac output and oximetry readings is necessary. Utilization and maintenance of digital cine technologies and protocols for storage and retrieval of patient images and records is expected. Assisting with vascular access, sheath removal, and hemostatic closure devices while maintaining hemostasis at the access site is part of the job. Inventory control and preparation of required equipment for procedures are critical. Adhering to clinical practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems is necessary. Safety in operating equipment is crucial. Participation in on-call responsibilities per organizational policy is required. Application of radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site is also essential. Recognizing and interpreting cardiac arrhythmias is part of the role. Assistance with maintenance, calibration, and routine periodic evaluation of all diagnostic and technical equipment is expected. Heavy lifting of a minimum of 40 lbs. and the ability to push and pull 100 lbs. are required. Standing for a minimum of 4 hours a day is part of the job. Identifying and responding to the needs of the patient population served is crucial. Provision of care that is specific to those needs is essential. Adherence to radiation safety standards is a must.
