Job Title: Cardiovascular Cath Lab Tech Profession: Clinical-Allied Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 1-2 years required, 3 years preferred License: AHA BLS, ACLS, RCIS Certifications: AHA Basic Health Care Life Support Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 3 months of employment, RCIS exam or Radiologic Technologist License within 1 year of hire Must-Have: - Two (2) years prior experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory or invasive procedure area in an acute care hospital. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Six (6) to twelve (12) months during CVT accredited program or two (2) years in another cardiac vascular laboratory. - Familiarity with computers, hemodynamic monitoring, and sterile operative techniques. - Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platform. Description: The Cardiovascular Technologist will assist physicians with all invasive cardiac and peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including temporary and permanent pacemaker placement. In addition, the Cardiovascular Technologist will assist with circulatory support devices as indicated (e.g., IABP and Impella). Prepares and organizes specific equipment and sterile trays for each procedure. Assists procedure room team with the positioning and preparation of patient monitoring. Calibrates and tests transducers for accurate pressure readings. Assists physicians throughout diagnostic and interventional procedures. Loads and operates power injector and associated sterile support equipment. Maneuvers the table controls for physicians as requested. Calibrates hemodynamic monitoring equipment and obtains, calculates, and analyzes all hemodynamic data during the procedure. Calculates and records cardiac output and oximetry readings. Utilizes required standards for the operation of digital cine technologies including protocols for storage and retrieval of patient's images and hemodynamic records. Assists with vascular access, sheath removal, and hemostatic closure devices while maintaining hemostasis. Manages inventory control and prepares required equipment for each procedure. Adheres to practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems. Operates equipment safely, prepares and cares for equipment, and returns supplies as necessary. Participates in catheterization lab on-call responsibilities as per organizational policy. Applies radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis. Recognizes and interprets all cardiac arrhythmias. Assists with maintenance, calibration, and routine evaluation of all diagnostic and technical equipment. Lifts a minimum of 40 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 100 lbs., and stands a minimum of 4 hours a day. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care specific to those needs. Communicates effectively with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their level. Adheres to radiation safety standards per organizational policy.
