Job Title: Cardiac Cath Lab Technician Profession: Cath Lab Technician Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 3 years required in Cardiac Cath License: Required Licenses & Certifications - BLS, Radiology certification Certifications: Maintains IABP Certification, Effectively passes Monitor Technician Certification/Annual Telemetry Review Must-Have: - Permanent pacemaker placement experience is preferred - Usage of Impella and balloon pump required Description: Responsible for ensuring safe procedures are carried out in the delivery of cardiac services to patients. Effectively passes Monitor Technician Certification and Annual Telemetry Review. Demonstrates ability to use and care for all technical equipment and supplies, including x-ray and film processing equipment. Identifies equipment problems and safety hazards and takes appropriate action to initiate repairs. Understands the mechanics of operation of the various CCL systems and is able to troubleshoot problems and correct identified deficiencies. Maintains a downtime log. Maintains accurate and complete procedural logs and/or technical notations. Accurately obtains, calculates, and analyzes hemodynamic data. Assists in preparing patients for procedures. Assists patients during procedures to maintain maximum comfort and safety. Educates patients on procedures pre and post. Maintains accurate and complete records. Ensures proper completion of reports and documentation, including X-ray requisitions and film labels. Properly handles cine films, including mailing and retrieving films. Always accurately checks supplies for expiration dates. Identifies all expired equipment in a timely manner. Ensures that supplies are orderly and clean. Ensures that par levels of all required supplies and radiographic equipment are maintained, stored, and utilized. Prepares the procedure room and lays out necessary supplies prior to procedures. Keeps turnover time within 15 minutes. Scrubs with cardiologists and demonstrates familiarity with individual cardiologists' preferences. Maintains aseptic surgical technique throughout invasive procedures and follows universal precautions. Verifies correct identification of patients. Ensures all films and medical record components are properly identified for each patient. Verifies all consents and low-risk criteria. Follows policy and procedure for operation, troubleshooting, service contact, quality control, and archival systems.
