Description:
The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver responsible for patient care in the Invasive Lab.
The patient population includes those requiring invasive cardiology or invasive radiology studies.
The Registered Radiologic Technologist assists the physician in all procedures.
The role provides essential support to both the patient and the medical team.
Key responsibilities include administering contrast material as requested by the physician.
This may involve performing venipuncture and placing an IV line when necessary.
The Technologist recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
Anticipating the setup and needs for invasive procedures is crucial.
The role also involves managing inventory and supplies.
Checking for correct patient and chart identification is essential for safety.
Compiling relevant clinical information related to the lab and pathology is required.
The Technologist administers medications in accordance with their scope of practice.
Accurate and complete documentation is expected.
Explaining procedures to patients and ensuring their comfort, safety, and confidentiality is part of the job.
The position requires performing all essential functions of the Invasive Lab Radiologic Technologist.
On-call duties and floating to other procedural areas may also be necessary.
Maintaining a clean and organized work area is important.
Competence in operating imaging and physiological monitoring equipment is essential.
Basic troubleshooting of this equipment is also required.
Department-specific functions include working around and maintaining a sterile field during procedures.
Assessing patients for allergies is necessary before administering treatment.
The Technologist may function as a scrub and monitor technician during procedures.
Assisting the physician during interventional procedures is part of the role.
Willingness to take interventional call is required.
