Cath Lab Technologist

Location: Bakersfield, CA

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Days, 10-hour day shifts (10s), every-other-week (EOW) schedule with required call rotation; rotate call ~1x/week for inpatient/emergent cases; weekend call ~1 weekend/month running from Friday evening through Monday AM. Exact clock start/end times vary by unit.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Assist with cardiac, coronary, vascular, peripheral, IR, neuro and EP procedures, ensuring smooth, efficient cases
  • Monitor hemodynamics and document physiologic data accurately during procedures
  • Support airway management and respond appropriately to changes in patient status
  • Manage and assist with cardiac drips and balloon pump setups as needed
  • Prepare and maintain procedural rooms and imaging equipment across multiple suites
  • Work collaboratively with RNs, the Lead Tech, and the procedural team to optimize patient care
  • Participate in on-call and weekend coverage to support emergent and inpatient cases
  • Follow radiation safety protocols and maintain required documentation
Qualifications
  • ARRT certification required
  • Current Fluoroscopy certification required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of current cath lab experience
  • Comfortable and experienced with conscious/moderate sedation processes (RN performs sedation but techs must be familiar)
  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac drips (e.g., Integrilin, dopamine, vasopressors) and IABP/balloon pumps
  • STEMI-receiving experience and familiarity with a high-volume cath lab environment
  • No RCIS or CCT applicants accepted
  • No first-time travelers (travelers must have prior travel assignment experience)
Education
  • BSN not required
  • Relevant technical training and certifications (ARRT, Fluoroscopy, BLS) required
Knowledge & Skills
  • Cath lab procedures and suite workflow across coronary, peripheral, vascular, neuro and EP cases
  • Hemodynamics monitoring and interpretation
  • Airway management basics and procedural patient support
  • Fluoroscopy and radiation safety practices
  • Procedural processes and sterile technique in interventional suites
  • Ability to assist with cardiac drips and balloon pump management
  • Comfort in fast-paced environments handling 10–22 cases per day across multiple suites
  • Charting experience in Cerner preferred
