Are you ready to take your expertise as a cardiovascular technologist to new heights. Join our team as a Cath Lab Tech (Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) and play a vital role on a multidisciplinary interventional platform in Elgin, IL. Support physicians and Cath lab personnel during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and vascular procedures while operating advanced imaging equipment and hemodynamic monitoring systems.
What You'll Need:
- ARRT certified Radiologic Technologist (required for RT candidates).
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) from CCI preferred.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Cath Lab or IR environment. Client requires 2 years Cath Lab experience for RN & RT applicants, or 2 years IR experience depending on modality. Cross-training in both modalities is preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
- State licensure as applicable. RTs must hold IEMA (IL license) and ARRT.
- Ability to perform modality-specific skills: for RN — circulate, moderate sedation, cardiac rhythm interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, Impella and balloon pump experience preferred; for RT — scrub and pan simultaneously, Impella, balloon pump, hemodynamic monitoring.
- Experience with intra-procedural adult patients only. Facility will not accept first-time travelers.
- Familiarity with EPIC charting, Merge hemodynamic systems, GE Cardio (EP), and Siemens imaging equipment preferred.
- Preferred: Hybrid, EP, and IR experience but not required.
Assignment Details
- Facility type: Hospital.
- Shift: Days.
- Shift hours: 0800-1600.
- Schedule: 5x8.
- Patient types: Adult inpatients and outpatients. Intra-procedural coverage only.
- Patient ratio: 1:1.
- Orientation: 12 hours of facility/unit orientation.
- Floating: May be asked to float to IR or Cath Lab depending on skillset.
- On-call expectations: Yes. Three-person call team with approximately 10–11 call shifts per month, including two weekends per month. Weekday call 4p–7a; weekend call 4p Friday–7a Monday. 30-minute response time. No sleep room. Holiday coverage limited to call; typically 1–2 holidays on call per contract.
- Support: Charge nurse coverage, 24/7 RT coverage, hospitalist 24/7, cardiology day coverage with on-call nights, RRT/code team responds to codes in the lab, transportation available for IR patients.
