Job Title: Travel Cath Lab Technician
Location: Tennessee (Various Facilities)
Employment Type: Travel Contract (Typically 13 weeks)

Job Summary

A Travel Cath Lab Technician assists physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. The technician is responsible for preparing patients and equipment, maintaining a sterile environment, monitoring patient status, and ensuring high-quality imaging throughout procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the cardiac catheterization lab before procedures.
  • Assist physicians during cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, stent placements, electrophysiology procedures, and other vascular interventions.
  • Operate fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
  • Scrub, circulate, and monitor procedures as assigned.
  • Prepare and maintain sterile instruments and supplies.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and report changes to the physician and nursing staff.
  • Administer contrast media and assist with medication preparation (as permitted by facility policy).
  • Document procedure details accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety and infection control standards.
  • Respond to emergency situations during procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays, as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology or Radiologic Technology program.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Cath Lab experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Experience with:
    • Coronary angiography
    • PCI (angioplasty/stent placement)
    • Peripheral vascular procedures
    • Structural heart procedures (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Required Certifications

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
  • One of the following, depending on facility requirements:
    • Cath Lab Tech Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous travel assignment experience.
  • Experience with EP Lab or Interventional Radiology procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Wear lead aprons for prolonged periods.
  • Manual dexterity to handle sterile instruments and equipment.

Schedule

  • 5 x 8-hour shifts
  • Call requirements commonly include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Contract length is generally 13 weeks, with the possibility of extension.
