Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Profession: Therapy/Rehabilitation Specialty: Acute Care Hospital Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (08:00 - 16:30) Experience: Minimum of 1 year COTA in an acute hospital setting License: Indiana state license required Certifications: BLS, NBCOT Must-Have: Manual Therapy and Lymphedema certifications preferred; Cerner experience preferred Description: This position involves providing therapy services in an inpatient acute care rehabilitation team. You will be expected to see patients across various levels of acuity, ranging from ICU to progressive care units. Common diagnoses will include CABG and other cardiac procedures, stroke, TBI, joint replacements, fracture repairs, respiratory illnesses, dementia, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. The COTA will be responsible for evaluating patients and developing a plan of care that includes ADL training, therapeutic exercises, and therapeutic activities aimed at improving patient function. You will also assess the appropriateness of discharge disposition recommendations on a daily basis. The work schedule includes Monday to Friday with one weekend day each month. Travelers will be required to float to different units as necessary. Daily patient load may average nine or more patients. Candidates must have experience with adult and geriatric populations and be comfortable with a variety of rehabilitation techniques. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
