Job Summary Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA):
- Provides skilled support services under supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT)
- Implements OT-designed treatment plans to help residents regain independence in daily activities and improve functional performance
- Assists with resident evaluations and documentation of progress
- Delivers direct therapy services in a compassionate, safe, and effective manner
- Monitors and documents residents responses, reporting concerns to the OT
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and communicates resident updates
- Educates residents and caregivers on therapeutic exercises and safety techniques
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system
- Ensures proper use and maintenance of adaptive equipment and assistive devices
- Follows facility policies, CMS guidelines, and professional standards
- Upholds ethical and professional conduct per state licensure and certification requirements
- Typically works in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or long-term care setting with an interdisciplinary team
- May require physical activity such as standing, lifting, and transferring residents
