Job Overview
We are seeking a Travel Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) for a 13-week contract assignment. This role involves assisting the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans that help patients improve daily living skills, independence, and overall functional abilities.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to providing high-quality rehabilitative care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans
Provide therapeutic activities to improve patients' daily living and functional skills
Monitor patient progress and report changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Educate patients and caregivers on therapy techniques and home programs
Ensure patient safety during therapy sessions
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
Promote patient independence, recovery, and quality of life
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
Job Requirements
Active Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) license (State of New Mexico or eligible for licensure)
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
Previous experience in rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or long-term care preferred
Strong communication and documentation skills
Must provide valid state or federal-issued identification for facility access
