Position: Travel Certified Respiratory Therapist – ECMO Specialist

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Shift: Night Shift – 3x12 Hours (18:30 – 07:00)
Schedule: Every other weekend required
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (with possible extension)
Travel Rate: $58–$75/hr (based on experience)


Overview

Seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with specialized ECMO experience to support adult critical care patients. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience operating ECMO machines and managing high-acuity respiratory cases.


Key Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of RRT experience

  • Minimum 1 year of ECMO Specialist experience

  • Hands-on ECMO machine experience required

  • Adult Critical Care experience required


Licensure & Certifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required

  • Active State License required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required


Clinical Skills & Experience

Airway Management

  • Endotracheal tube management and suctioning

  • Intubation assist and extubation

  • Nasal and oral airway placement and suctioning

  • Tracheostomy care and suctioning

  • Pulmonary hygiene and sputum specimen collection


Patient Care Experience

  • ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia

  • ECMO and COVID patients

  • Bronchoscopy support

  • Fresh tracheostomy care


Medication Administration

  • Bronchodilators (Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent)

  • Steroids (Flovent, Pulmicort)

  • Mucomyst, Racemic epinephrine

  • Nitric Oxide (INO), Inhaled Flolan

  • Tobramycin, Xopenex, Spiriva


Respiratory Equipment & Therapy

  • Aerosol delivery systems (mask, trach setup)

  • Nebulizers (cold, heated, ultrasonic, T-piece, trach collar)

  • Oxygen therapy (HFNC, ET tube, portable oxygen, ECMO protocols)


Ventilator Management

  • BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV

  • Vent troubleshooting (high-pressure alarms)

  • Mechanical ventilation weaning

  • Patient transport (intra- and inter-facility)
