Responsibilities
- Conduct overnight polysomnography studies, including monitoring EEG, EMG, and EOG signals; ensure accurate data acquisition and high-quality recordings.
- Set up and calibrate sleep study equipment, apply sensors, support mask fittings, and educate patients about procedures to maximize comfort and cooperation.
- Score sleep studies according to standard criteria and document findings in the electronic medical record; troubleshoot equipment and address data quality issues as they arise.
- Monitor patient safety and respond promptly to events during sleep studies; communicate results and any concerns to the on-site sleep medicine team.
- Collaborate with clinicians and support staff to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to hospital protocols; maintain patient privacy and infection control practices.
- Demonstrate strong bedside manners and effective patient education to support compliance and comfort during testing.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of sleep technology experience required; 3–5 years highly preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate degree acceptable, preferably in a science field, and/or successful completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Sleep Technology Program.
- Certifications: BLS certification required.
- Documentation: Epic experience within the past 2 years is required.
- Skills: Proficient in sleep study scoring, data acquisition, troubleshooting, mask fittings, patient education, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Travel and work setting: Ability to work nights (7:00 pm–7:00 am) and weekend coverage; reliable transportation required due to limited public transit in the area.
