Job Title: Scrub Technician Profession: Technician Specialty: Scrub Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: CVOR experience Description: Provide safe care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with professional and hospital standards. Assist in the coordination of patient care. Collaborate with other health team members. Participate in performance improvement activities. Act in the role of support during the surgical procedure but not as a surgical assistant. Create and maintain asepsis. Perform scrubbing duties. Communicate patient information to the appropriate persons. Account for all equipment and supplies used in patient care. Communicate effectively with peers, health team members, patients, and visitors. Maintain adaptability and support teamwork within the department. Resolve problems effectively. Meet the department's Customer Service Quality Standards consistently. Perform clinical preceptor role for scrubbing and follow orientation outline. Collaborate with the patient care coordinator and educational staff. Maintain cleanliness in the unit. Clean and maintain equipment used during surgical cases. Stay accountable for equipment use and care. Perform other job duties and responsibilities as required. Frequent standing for long periods, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping. Frequent lifting and moving of patients. Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying up to 50 lbs. Frequent pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Frequent dexterous hand and finger movements. Constant reaching with hands and arms, and twisting motions. Frequent talking and/or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range is required. Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue is expected. Possible exposure to infectious materials and communicable diseases is common. Intermittent exposure to blood-borne pathogens may occur. Moderate to high noise levels in the work area are typical. Work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours may be required. Availability to take calls and/or work weekends or holidays based on department needs is necessary. CVOR experience is a must.
