- Contract Length: 13 Weeks
- Shift: Night Shift
- Schedule: 3×12
- Experience Required: 2 Years
- Pay Rate:$48 to $52 per hour
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, surgical equipment, and supplies before surgical procedures
- Maintain a sterile field throughout operations using strict aseptic techniques
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and other surgical supplies during procedures
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow and patient safety
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Prepare specialty equipment and instruments for various surgical specialties
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and safe transfers before and after surgery
- Handle, label, and transport surgical specimens according to facility protocols
- Clean, restock, and prepare operating rooms between surgical cases
- Follow infection prevention, sterilization, and patient safety standards at all times
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, registered nurses, and perioperative staff to provide exceptional surgical care
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential preferred or required by facility policy
- Minimum 2 years of recent Surgical Technologist experience in an acute care hospital
- Current BLS Certification required
- Experience assisting with multiple surgical specialties preferred
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm and efficient during routine and emergency surgical procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Ability to stand for extended periods and actively participate throughout surgical procedures
