Description

American Traveler is hiring a Charge RN for a Cardiac and Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) requiring 18 months of experience and telemetry/cardiac drip management skills.

Details

• Work in the Cardiac and Medical PCU, a true ICU stepdown unit, in a short-term acute care hospital with 194 staffed beds
• Care for patients requiring heart caths, BiPAP, and cardiac and vasoactive drip management (Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio)
• Follows PCU Crisis Criteria protocols
• This is a Charge RN role with charge pay offered and training available for qualified candidates
• 12-hour night shift schedule (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM), 4x12 hours per week
• Weekend shifts required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Travel pairs are not accepted for this unit

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start (no pending licenses accepted)
• Minimum 18 months of recent nursing experience required
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS (NIHSS preferred)
• Previous ICU experience highly preferred
• Previous Charge Nurse experience preferred
• Experience with telemetry, IV starts, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, BiPAP, and High Flow Oxygen required
• Experience in a Level I, II, III, or IV trauma center required
• Ventilator management, additional Charge Nurse experience, and conscious sedation experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Nursing degree must be from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation

Additional Information

• Provide advanced cardiac and medical stepdown nursing care including management of cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapy
• Support post cardiac angiogram and pre/post cardiac catheterization patients, including post-Watchman and ablation care
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates (IN residents) are not accepted for this position
• Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must be separated for 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment within IU Health must take a designated consecutive break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
