Position Overview – Central Sterile Technician (Travel Contract)
The Central Sterile Technician (CST) is responsible for decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining patient safety and supporting surgical teams.
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment
  • Assemble instrument trays and procedure carts according to established guidelines
  • Operate sterilization equipment including steam sterilizers, autoclaves, and low-temperature systems
  • Monitor biological and chemical indicators to ensure sterilization effectiveness
  • Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization processes and instrument tracking
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage
  • Ensure compliance with infection control policies, AAMI standards, and facility procedures
  • Collaborate with OR staff and clinical departments to meet case demands
  • Maintain inventory levels and ensure proper storage of sterile supplies
Education & Certification Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a Central Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology program preferred
  • Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) 
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of recent Central Sterile or Sterile Processing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of sterilization standards, infection prevention, and instrument tracking systems
