Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a critical care float pool role covering ICU/IMC areas, requiring 2 years of recent experience and at least one prior travel assignment.

Details

  • Critical care float pool position assigned from the staffing office to cover overflow MICU/SICU and other ICU/IMC areas across the hospital
  • May float to any ICU or IMC unit as needed, including covering ICU/IMC boarders
  • Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) available
  • Rotating schedule includes 36/48 hour patterns, every other weekend, and holidays as needed

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required in hand
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience within the last 7 years required
  • At least 1 previous travel assignment required for consideration
  • Cerner charting system experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, arterial line management, blood product administration, and ventilator patient care required
  • Experience with CRRT/CVVHD, continuous IV sedation, and management of cardiac dysrhythmias required
  • Experience with neuro critical care skills such as EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery management preferred
  • Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the past 3 years

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across ICU and IMC units, supporting overflow and boarder patients throughout the hospital
  • Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms prior to clearance
  • Facility-specific compliance modules must be completed within one week of contract signing
  • Labs and drug screening appointments must be completed within 48 hours of signing
  • No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within a 60-mile radius
  • Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • Manager interviews are not guaranteed; candidates must be comfortable proceeding without one
