Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position requiring an OH or compact RN license and prior float pool or multi-unit ICU experience.

Details

• Work in a teaching hospital's Critical Care Float Pool, rotating across multiple ICU units
• Float to Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU/MICU/NCCU based on staffing and patient acuity
• Floating is limited to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Day shift schedule (3x12 Hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
• Weekend shifts required plus one additional weekday shift
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Required skills: IV start, telemetry, and ventilator management experience
• Additional skills include arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Experience with care of ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, and chest tube assistance
• Experience with CVA/acute stroke management and EVD/ICP monitoring preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing across a variety of ICU settings based on daily staffing needs and patient acuity
• Flexibility to float to all ICU units is required
• RTO must be submitted with contract and limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
• First-time travelers may be considered given required travel experience
