Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and a valid MO or compact RN license, with floating responsibilities across multiple ICUs in a short-term acute care hospital.

Details

  • Float position covering multiple ICUs including Trauma, Oncology, Cardiac/Heart and Vascular, Neurology, Medicine, and COVID units
  • Short-term acute care hospital setting
  • ICU patient ratio is 2:1 for all shifts
  • May float to inpatient (non-critical care) floors when ICU census is low, with a ratio of no more than 1:3
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
  • Every other weekend required, or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, plus holiday rotation
  • Charting via Epic; Epic experience is required
  • Free parking on-site
  • Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active MO state RN license or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • At least 1 year of CV ICU experience required
  • Proficiency with ventilators, IV insertion, telemetry, and conscious sedation required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • First-time travelers will not be considered
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

  • Preferred certifications and credentials include: CCRN, ONS, TNCC, CPI, and Chemo certification
  • Preferred cardiac skills include: Swan-Ganz catheter/hemodynamic interpretation, IABP, Impella, and ECMO
  • CRRT experience is beneficial but not required
  • Preferred experience includes triage, ICP monitoring, PA lines, and Level 1 Trauma
  • Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers may work at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
  • RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
  • May occasionally be utilized as a patient sitter if needed
