Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float position requiring a MA RN license and a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.

Details

  • Float position covering both Medical and Surgical ICUs in an acute care hospital setting
  • Patient population includes critically ill adults requiring complex, multisystem care across medical, surgical, and cardiovascular ICU settings
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
  • Every other weekend (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Contract lengths of 13, 20, or 26 weeks are accepted

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license required; conditional MA license accepted if actively working toward permanent licensure
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
  • Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS; CPI preferred
  • Core ICU skills required: IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care/management, arterial line management, ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, interpretation of ABGs, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Two professional references required for consideration, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
  • Candidates must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate; local candidates within 200 miles are accepted at the same bill rate

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across Medical and Surgical ICU float assignments
  • Must be available to work any day of the week; this is a union facility and no special scheduling accommodations can be made
  • RTO is limited; up to 14 days may be submitted for review, with no RTO permitted in the first week of the assignment; a preferred RTO length is 3–5 days
  • Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG test and a Pass/Fail Medication exam during orientation; the telemetry test requires a minimum score of 80% and only one attempt is allowed — failure will result in assignment cancellation
  • Orientation includes pre-start modules (approximately 1–2 hours) and additional orientation modules completed on-site
  • Candidates with prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license are not eligible for this position
  • Former employees of the health system must have a minimum 12-month separation before being considered
