Job Title: CT Tech Profession: Imaging Specialty: CT Scan Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology, less than 1 year experience in CT preferred License: ARRT Radiography Certifications: ARRT Computed Tomography, Basic Life Support Must-Have: Must exhibit excellent communication skills. Ability to function independently and under pressure. Excellent customer service skills. Detail-oriented with the capacity to multitask. Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing exams according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to properly obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and ingenuity. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patients for procedures. Verifies proper clinician order for procedures. Obtains complete clinical history and assesses contraindicating conditions. Follows procedures for administration of contrast media to ensure patient safety. Ensures all studies have proper patient identification and markers utilized appropriately. Reviews CT/radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations and maintains life support equipment. Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed. Observes patient conditions and evaluates when physician intervention is necessary. Verifies correct patient identity using two unique identifiers prior to procedures. Ensures patient privacy and comfort, maintaining dignity throughout exams. Demonstrates competence in the application of procedures and equipment based on patient age. Organizes schedule and priorities to accomplish activities on time. Follows physician instructions during procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power injection. Uses critical thinking skills. Communicates effectively with patients and their families. Seeks clarification on ambiguous orders and understands pre-and post-procedural care. Preps patients for procedures and maintains competency with venipuncture. Demonstrates ability to adjust technique for minimizing radiation exposure while maintaining image quality. Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisors for timely correction. Cleans and maintains equipment according to infection control policy. Patiently explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients to minimize anxiety. Addresses patient questions and concerns, notifying physicians when necessary. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees. Ensures accurate documentation of procedures. Reads departmental communications daily and follows through on assignments. Completes mandatory education without prompting. Produces acceptable images consistently, as evidenced by feedback from radiologists. Checks equipment before use to ensure proper calibration and operating conditions. Sends all studies to PACS immediately after completion and completes all studies in the system. Restocks supplies and maintains departmental cleanliness. Transports and positions patients and assists them on and off the procedure table. Performs patient charging activities on the day services are rendered. Applies shielding and support devices as needed. Willingly assists colleagues and performs clerical duties to ensure continuity of services. Keeps supervisors informed of responsibilities and notifies them of any issues promptly. Maintains productivity rate equal to coworkers. Operates all workstations associated with the CT department. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards. Takes call when necessary and performs other duties as assigned.
